Student Resources

The Collection of Musical Instruments is a unique asset to the rich musical environment at Yale. Students are encouraged to acquaint themselves with this museum and avail themselves of the resources it offers in their pursuit of musical activities on campus.

Curricular Enhancement
Classes in the School of Music and Department of Music are scheduled in the Collection for presentations appropriate to course content.  Additionally, master classes are presented throughout the year by acclaimed guest performers on the museum’s annual series of concerts.

Circulating Collection
The museum maintains a special circulating collection of instruments including replicas of period instruments for the use of Yale music students and faculty.

Access to digital assets
The museum’s database has steadily developed to include photographic, audio, and visual documentation of the objects as well as associated metadata and digitized documentary information. A large portion of this information will be accessible on this website, and Yale students can be granted further access by request as appropriate.

DIGITAL COLLECTION


Discounted tickets; free tickets for YSM students
All Yale faculty, staff, and students are entitled to discounted tickets to concerts at the Collection. Students enrolled in Yale School of Music and Department classes are offered free tickets to these events.
