Tours & Class Visits

“Housed in a former fraternity building, the museum is small and personal.
The feeling of being alone among priceless historical instruments, as if in a truly
private collection, is worth experiencing.” —Paul Elish (Saybrook College, ’15)

Gallery tours and class presentations are offered to university and non-university groups interested in the history, design, construction, and preservation of musical instruments.

A typical tour consists of a guided examination of the museum’s three galleries with special emphasis on outstanding examples. Specialized tours focused on distinct groups or families of instruments may be arranged.

Tours are led by staff members who place the instruments on display in a historical context and discuss their roles in the cultural life of the period.

A fee is customarily charged for tours presented to non-Yale groups.
